U.S. Army receives first batch of Manpack radios for evaluation

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. U.S. Army officials received the first 30 General Dynamics Mission Systems two-channel Manpack networking radios for evaluation under a production contract awarded in March.

“The General Dynamics radios incorporate the secure, network communications capabilities of the AN/PRC-155 along with technology and functionality improvements suggested by soldiers who have used the PRC-155 in combat,” says Paul Parent, vice president of Radio Products for General Dynamics Mission Systems.

During an Army demonstration in Hawaii on February 2016, soldiers used the AN/PRC-155 radio to reach the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) network enabling soldiers to maintain communications aboard Army vessels and in land-based locations.
